Bronze Street ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") is a South African business, and this policy is written to meet the requirements of South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act ("POPIA"), as well as to give you a clear, honest account of what data we actually collect. It explains how we collect, use, and share your personal information when you visit our website, https://www.bronzestreet.com (the "Website"), and use our related services, including Vocal Production, Composition, Writing, Performance, Audio Engineering, Music Sales, Donations, Free Giveaways, Street membership, and Groundwork.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account and membership information: When you join Street or create an account, we collect your username, email address, and display name, and, if you purchase a paid Service, payment-related details necessary to process that transaction.
  • Newsletter sign-ups: If you subscribe via the newsletter bar on our site, we collect the email address you provide. Sign-up is protected by Google reCAPTCHA; see section 3.
  • Usage and technical information: Standard website logs, such as pages visited and general device or browser information, collected automatically as part of how the Website operates.

2. Groundwork: What We Do Not Collect

Groundwork is built to hold none of your or your child's data on our servers. Everything recorded within the application, a child's activities, progress, photographs, and journal entries, is stored only on the device the application is installed on. Nothing about how you or your child use Groundwork is transmitted to, seen by, or stored by Bronze Street. If you export a backup from within the app, that file is created and saved by your own device; we never receive a copy of it.

3. Cookies

Our Website uses a small number of cookies, each for a specific, limited purpose:

  • Login and session cookies: Keep you signed in to your account and remember your membership status as you move between pages.
  • Caching cookies: Used by our hosting infrastructure to serve pages efficiently; these do not identify you personally.
  • Newsletter bar cookies: Remember whether you have already subscribed or dismissed the newsletter prompt, so it is not shown to you repeatedly.
  • reCAPTCHA: Our newsletter sign-up is protected by Google reCAPTCHA. This site is protected by reCAPTCHA, and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.

4. How We Use Your Information

  • Providing Services: To deliver the Services you request, administer your Street membership, and communicate with you about your projects.
  • Account Management: To create and manage your account and respond to your inquiries.
  • Communication: To send you updates, newsletters, and important notices about our Services. Marketing communications are sent only with your consent, and you may opt out at any time.
  • Improving Services: To understand how our Website is used and improve it.
  • Legal Compliance: To meet our obligations under South African law.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:

  • Service providers: Payment processors, our hosting provider, and infrastructure used to deliver our newsletter, each bound to protect your data and use it only for the purpose we've engaged them for.
  • Legal authorities: Where required by law or legal process.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our business, your information may transfer as part of that transaction.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information from unauthorised access, use, or disclosure. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy of it.
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date.
  • Ask us to delete your information, subject to any legal obligation we have to retain it.
  • Object to our processing of your information, including for direct marketing, at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator if you believe we have handled your information improperly.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at connect@bronzestreet.com.

8. Children's Privacy

Our Website and our accounts, including Street membership, are intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Website or through account registration.

Groundwork is different: it is a tool designed for a parent or guardian to use together with a child. As explained in section 2, nothing recorded within Groundwork about a child's activity is transmitted to or held by us. If you are a parent or guardian using Groundwork, you remain in full control of any information recorded about your child, on your own device.

9. International Transfers

Some of the service providers we use, including our hosting infrastructure and Google reCAPTCHA, may process information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to receive an appropriate level of protection.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the Services after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
